It has been stated that this is a 4.7% increase compared to last year (or around US$61 million).<\/p>\n<p>Broken down, the group\u2019s data showed that a total of US$717.5 million came from casinos, whereas the remainder of the sum (US$593.1 million) came from the state\u2019s lottery games. Speaking on the tax revenue gained from gambling, state Governor Larry Hogan commented that the tax funds were used to ensure that there was funding for essential operations and services that were both beneficial to state development and widely used by citizens.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4110 size-full\" title=\"Maryland Gambling Tax Revenue Rises\" src=\"https:\/\/casinous.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/maryland-gambling-tax-revenue-rises.png\" alt=\"maryland-gambling-tax-revenue-rises\" width=\"500\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/casinous.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/maryland-gambling-tax-revenue-rises.png 500w, https:\/\/casinous.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/maryland-gambling-tax-revenue-rises-300x168.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Governor Hogan also provided some information about where exactly all this money will be going. According to sources, the following groups will receive the below-stated funds:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maryland Education Trust Fund \u2013 US$542.7 million<\/li>\n<li>Local aid \u2013 US$92.8 million<\/li>\n<li>Horse racing industry \u2013 US$77.6 million<\/li>\n<li>Maryland General Fund \u2013 US$552 million<\/li>\n<li>Stadium Authority \u2013 US$20 million<\/li>\n<li>Baltimore City Schools \u2013 US$20 million<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"maryland-casinos-see-increase-in-gross-gaming-revenue\"><\/span>Maryland Casinos See Increase in Gross Gaming Revenue<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Maryland experienced its best-ever year in terms of gaming revenue for the fiscal year of 2018-19. The six casinos located within the state reported a total gross gaming revenue of US$1.76 billion. This is up to US$81.4 million from the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>The state\u2019s highest-earning casino was the MGM National Harbor, which Live followed! Casino Hotel and then the Caesars-owned Horseshoe Baltimore. The only casino to experience a downfall in market share was the Horseshoe, which dropped from 15.2% to 14.2%.<\/p>\n<p>With regards to lotteries within the state, it seems that the Mega Millions and Powerball are the two biggest multi-state games, bringing a total of US$56 million and US$49.2 million, respectively.
